Re: Paul's 52 Week Project

Good excuse not to mow the lawn! I wonder if I could get away with it here. :?: :!: ;)

The bee is a great inclusion and well placed.

Re: ACR default 240ppi change

Dave I'm guessing that the screenshots you have shown here are from a version of Photoshop CS, rather than Photoshop Elements which Matthew is using. An assumption based on one of your screenshots showing the option to open the image as a Smart Object, which PSE does not support. I have been looking...

Re: PAD 183 - Rush

No missing word, just a general remark that sometimes images have a greater impact when you DON'T crop and you leave lots of "empty space" in the photograph. One thing I've noticed over the last couple of years is that judging at club competitions rarely let any images go through without ...

Re: Small commission

⋅ Estimate how long you think you will need ⋅ Double it ⋅ Add on 20% to take account of things you have not thought of! The "Double it and add VAT" rule is applicable to a surprising number of things, I use it for project estimations at work all the time :) I...

Re: PAD 183 - Rush

In response to both Paul and David: It is the Bank of England along Princes Street and yes, I did take some inspiration from Damien Demolder as well as other similar images I have seen. Originality? I've heard of it! (With thanks to The Register. ;) ) I also wandered down to the Wobbly Bridge later ...

Re: Don McCullin TV Programme

Apparently the reason why he wasn't allowed to go to the Falklands was bureaucratic rather than political, in that all the press passes had been allocated. He doesn't seem to be publically refuting that either, so more a case of "bad luck" than censorship perhaps? If I recall correctly fr...

Re: Small commission

There has been some discussion of pricing on the forum, although I am not sure that it is entirely relevant in this situation. http://forums.croydoncameraclub.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=170&p=1661&hilit=price#p1661 Essentially this is a one-off job with the resulting images being used fo...

Re: Don McCullin TV Programme

Thanks for the review, Rose. I had set the video to record the programme, so straight after the weatherman had told us what the weather will not be doing today, I turned the TV off to avoid getting engrossed. I suspect that DM's skills in getting powerful and emotive images were the very reason why ...

PAD 183 - Rush

Day 183 and another cool, dull "summer's" day. This worked to my advantage as a relatively slow shutter speed allowed me to capture some movement in the passers by. Technically I have now reached the half way stage of my 365 PAD, although in practice I have still to post PAD 181. The pictu...
