PAD 237 - Sunflower Heart

Day 237 and an unexpected lengthy phone call disrupted my plans for an evening shoot, so there was just time for a quick shot of a sunflower heart before the light completely faded.

Re: Another Competition Disqualification

Having checked out TinEye, I thought I would see how the Google image search compared. The photo which I used is this one as it is, by several orders of magnitude, the most widely seen of my images. At the time I took it in 2007 it received some publicity through the London to Brighton Veteran Car R...

PAD 236 - Serpent

Day 236 and on a dull day when it hardly stopped raining, I started playing with the cutlery. The only real surprise is that it took this long into the project. ;)

PAD 235 - Apple

Day 235 and I have been waiting for a day without too much wind to photograph one of the apples growing in a planter on the patio.

Re: Another Competition Disqualification

I have just done a quick experiment with TinEye using one of my PAD photos taken in May. As I post identical images both here and on http://365project.org/pictor TinEye should find the duplication, but does not report any matches. It works by trawling the web to find images to catalogue in its datab...

PAD 234 - Wet Tree Trunk

Day 234 and when I went to a recent Ansel Adams exhibition, I was impressed by the dark and light tones which he achieved in some of his monochrome images. This wet tree trunk provided an opportunity to see whether it is possible to replicate the effect using digital, rather than film. I think it co...

Re: Another Competition Disqualification

I am also reminded of something I heard a few weeks ago when a "friend of a friend" was contacted about copyright infringement in relation to an image he had posted on the web. It turns out that he had taken a photo of a scene in a small part of which there was another copyrighted image fo...

UPDATE

After posting my response, I immediately found Davidc's post in which he related his experience with image theft!

Re: Another Competition Disqualification

Interesting post Mike, thank you. It rang a bell with me as I have seen what looks very much like one of my images on a graphic designer's published portfolio of websites built for their clients. If that is the case they would have been paid for stealing a copyrighted image. not sure if there is an...

Another Competition Disqualification

This time the reason is blatant breach of copyright when the original winner of the competition manipulated another photographer's photo and submitted it as all his own work. From a photographic viewpoint, what is interesting is that the stolen photo was flipped horizontally, but the composition sti...
