Re: Images That Do Better The Second Time Around

When I made my suggestion of the same three picture in every competition in a year I wasn't expecting everyone to do it although if a number did take the opportunity I can see that it could cause problems on any given night. It was a suggestion which I didn't expect to be taken seriously and passed ...

Re: 25 photography cliches you should stop doing

Interesting video and, yes, humorous.

More cliches? How about THIRDS?

Re: Canon Updates DPP

I've never used Canon's offering and probably never likely to. I started with Apple's iPhoto but recently subscribed to Adobe's Photoshop CC/Lightroom 5 and find these more than capable of managing and enhancing my photographs. None of which makes it any easier to win the Club's competitions!

Re: Images That Do Better The Second Time Around

I have often thought that I would like to enter the same three images in all the rounds of the DPI competition to get a wider opinion from the various judges in a year. (These could be entered in the monthly competition as say nos 4, 5 and 6 and although the judge would score them, they would not be...

Any chance Croydon CC can organise an event (or two) (say, in and around Croydon) for this exciting (?) venture?

Re: The Photography Show - Birmingham

I've already booked my admittance ticket (last November, shortly after the announcement) for Tuesday 4th March. As for the travel arrangements, they still have to be made - I will probably be travelling after 9:30 to take advantage of my Freedom Pass and Senior Railcard. If the preference for other ...

Re: Focus On Imaging RIP

The Photography Show (the replacement for Focus on Imaging) is run by Future. What will happen to Photo Live next year?

I've booked my tickets (why do all websites insist upon a booking fee? £0.95 for this show) and hope I feel in the mode on the day.

Re: 13th November - Flashes, triggers & receivers needed!

Can't wait to see your list of equipment. I'm particularly intrigued by the software you used for capturing the moving water in the glass setup. And the splash effects have always caught my imagination but have never actually tried to do this. Perhaps if I can find a small space (bathroom might be a...

Re: 13th November - Flashes, triggers & receivers needed!

davidc - you shouldn't have worried. You got a good turnout and I'm sure everyone enjoyed the various set-ups you provided. I certainly did and, although still life is not a subject I particularly enjoy, I did get some useful tips from your presentation. Now I just need to get some equipment to try ...
