Re: Congratulations, Rose

Thanks everyone ! I’m really chuffed, as you can imagine :D This pic has been doing well for me in the last year. It’s one of my favourite parts of Wells.

Re: Birds On Sticks

If anyone's on Facebook there's a page where people post images that have been accepted at salons - it's a good indication of the standard for a DPAGB

Re: Birds On Sticks

It's not just a north/south divide... I have to say the standard of club photography I've seen here in the south west is very high indeed, so the definition of 'good club photography' cannot necessarily be judged on one's own club, or even the area. The Open Exhibition standard referred to for D is ...

Re: Birds On Sticks

DPIs have the disadvantage of being projected on a large screen so any imperfections can be seen easier than prints. However, prints will definitely lose marks if they're not on 'the right paper'.

Re: Birds On Sticks

It has been suggested that you are better off printing at A4 as there is less opportunity for such close inspection by judges...

Re: Birds On Sticks

Frances was one of 15 who were ultimately successful at D in the print category. Yes, those submitting PDIs were more successful - it is clear that the print itself plays a very significant role in the assessment. Re: Birds On Sticks

Oner of our members was awarded her D at Pontefract - her images had achieved multiple acceptances at salons & exhibitions (she's just been awarded BPE3*) but scored just under the threshold to be successful. However, they were reviewed and she got through, as were two others, so the total achie...

Re: Facebook page for the club

Mid Somerset's Facebook page has been running for 12 months now. There was considerable scepticism from some members who were not on Facebook themselves and who did not understand how it could be useful when we already have a website. However, it has grown into an excellent resource which supports a...

Re: Adobe Creative Cloud Operating System Support

Thanks Mike. I think the iMac is on its last legs anyway, everything is slower and sometimes processes just stop. Fortunately my uncle has just left me a small legacy so I plan to use it to buy a new computer and an A3 photo printer so I can finally get round to printing my images ! Having won all t...

Re: Adobe Creative Cloud Operating System Support

I'm already running one version behind as my 8 yr old iMac's system couldn't support the last update :( I have to replace the computer anyway as I spend far too much time watching that spinning beach ball.... It can take a minute just to open a drop down menu sometimes. And I've even had a blue scre...
