Re: Proper Photography
Its an interesting question, especially as you say he was a "young man" and therefore not necessarily brought up in a non-digital world. Did he believe that the more complicated the camera, the better the end result? Personally when I view photographs online or in galleries I never think ...

Re: Somerset House Terrace
One of those 'marmite' images ! I do think there's a story here so can see why Mike chose to take the pick in the first place but I prefer Nina's interpretation as it adds a certain mood and focusses on the people. I find my eye wandering a bit too much on the original.

Re: Lending lenses?
Interested in principle- probably easier to manage in the context of a club event or walkabout where both parties are attending ? I hired a Canon 100-400 from Lenses For Hire for the Biggin Hill air show one year. It enabled me to get a feel for the lens before deciding to purchase one. I highly rec...

Re: A Day With Damien?
I also think £180 is a bit much. I'd definitely be up for a day taking street pics though. I recommend we think about some specific objectives though, as I know from experience that it's all too easy just to wander around pointing the camera at lots of things. Or spend too much time in coffeeshops L...

Re: Wratten Lecture - share your thoughts
Well said David - I thoroughly enjoyed last night. Damien was witty and entertaining, insightful and inspirational. I have come away wanting to experiment more with exposure compensation. I always pick the point I want to expose for and then use exposure lock rather then EV compensation and it'll be...

We went to a fantastic concert in the Royal Albert Hall last night. We were lucky to be seated just 12 rows from the front and as I had the aisle seat I managed to get down to the stage a couple of times. I only had my little Lumix with me but managed to get a few reasonable shots which I've put on ...
