I bought my 100-400 lens second hand. It was in pretty much mint condition and I paid just under £900 for it. There are a number of reputable UK retailers who carry used equipment and it's worth considering.

Very well done ! I spotted the image on PhotographyBlog the other day and recognised it but couldn't immediately place where I'd seen it ! It didn't help that they said the photographer's name was Ross, not Ros... Yet another example of male bias perhaps ?
